According to Eric Bozeman, CPRP Director, Crisp County Recreation Department

the turnout was impressive. “Parents and family members came out to enjoy this day, we had 450 kids and 40 teams.”

The opening ceremony started with  Larry Felton, Vice Chair of Crisp Board of County Commissioners, who pumped up the players and supporters with words of encouragement. This was followed by the announcement of the teams and coaches, the playing of the national anthem, and finally, the ceremonial first pitch. Despite the recent bad weather, including a tornado, the sun shone brightly on opening day, adding to the excitement and fun of youth baseball.

Apart from celebrating the start of the baseball and softball season, the opening day also served as a platform to share valuable information with the community. Social services, voting education, and other essential information were made available to the attendees, making the event even more meaningful.

Youth baseball is not just a sport; it is an avenue for learning important life skills such as teamwork, sportsmanship, and dedication.
